4th Open6G Southwest Coding Workshop

 Jonathan Mandelbaum

On July 21, 2024, the 4th Open6G Southwest Coding Workshop took place at the CEL in collaboration with the EMS of RPTU and INÜ of the University of Stuttgart. The workshop provided a platform for experts from the region to exchange information on the latest developments in channel coding, particularly for the upcoming 6G mobile communication standard. The event began at 10:00 AM with the arrival of participants and a welcome address. The presentations and discussions covered a broad spectrum of topics in channel coding.

For example, presentations covered the use of Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) for joint detection and decoding, structural properties of polar codes, the application of optimization algorithms for decoding, and performance analysis of generalized product codes.

During the lunch break, participants had the opportunity to network over a meal. Table soccer games also contributed to a relaxed atmosphere, leading to lively discussions on both professional and informal topics.

A significant part of the workshop was the exchange on the Open6G Codeproposal for 6G. Innovative approaches and potential challenges were discussed intensively.

The workshop offered deep insights into current research topics and promoted scientific exchange and collaboration between the participating institutes. The event concluded with a final discussion at the Kaisergarten, where participants ended the day in a relaxed setting.
